Microsoft Adopts Direct Connection Chip Liquid Cooling
Microsoft is adopting direct to chip liquid cooling and exploring the potential of microfluidics. In order to utilize the higher efficiency provided by cold plates, Microsoft is developing a new generation of data center designs optimized for direct to chip cooling, which requires redesigning the layout of servers and racks to adapt to new thermal and power management methods.
Microfluidic technology is still an emerging technology, which integrates tiny fluid channels into chip design, embeds liquid cooling inside the chip, and brings the coolant directly to the processor, thereby introducing cooling inside the silicon.
