Toyota Industries Releases Integrated Liquid Cooling Unit For Car Chargers And DC-DC Converters

Toyota Industries has recently developed a small, lightweight new device for electric vehicles (BEVs) that integrates an in car charger and a DC-DC converter. The new unit is smaller and lighter than traditional independent units, and will be installed in Toyota's newly released battery electric vehicle "bZ4X" as the core unit responsible for charging and power conversion functions.

Toyota has utilized its accumulated technology and experience to develop specialized control ICs and power modules for new integrated units, and has constructed a cooling liquid circuit in the unit casing. On both sides of the liquid circuit, a three-dimensional vehicle charger and DC-DC converter are placed to improve thermal n performance and significantly reduce size and weight.
