How does the power battery of new energy vehicle dissipate heat?
As we all know, the power battery is the heart of electric vehicles, to withstand high temperature, water and frost, most electric vehicles are based on lithium batteries as the main raw material for the power battery, including ternary lithium, lithium iron phosphate, lithium manganate and lithium cobalt acid, ternary lithium battery has higher energy density, small size and light weight, it is a common one in the market.
Why do electric vehicles need cooling systems for their lithium-ion battery packs?
Because the power battery generates a lot of heat and the battery pack is in a relatively closed environment, the temperature of the battery will rise, battery module cooling system is a device used for heat dissipation in new energy vehicles. By cooling or heating the power battery, the power battery can be kept at a better working temperature, so as to improve its operation efficiency and extend the life of the power battery.
How to dissipate heat has always been the focus of research on new energy vehicles, the thermal management of lithium battery pack system for new energy vehicles can be divided into four categories:
Natural cooling, air forced cooling, liquid cooling, direct cooling, among them, natural cooling is a passive thermal management mode, while air forced cooling, liquid cooling and DC are active. The important difference between the three is the difference of heat exchange medium, natural cooling without additional devices for heat transfer.
At present, most new energy vehicles adopt liquid cooling solution, which has the following advantages:
1, the cooling rate is fast, and it spread the heat very quickly, the fluid (temperature and flow) control is simple, the liquid cooling technology through the liquid convection heat transfer to remove the heat generated by the battery away, reduce the battery temperature.
2, the specific heat capacity of water is three times higher than the air. The antifreeze of ordinary cars, including new energy vehicles, is an aqueous solution of ethylene glycol. The specific heat capacity is slightly lower than pure water at the same temperature, but it is still much higher than air.
