Overview of vapor chamber liquid cooling

      With the advent of mobile phone processor performance and 5g era, more data needs to be processed. The performance of mobile devices such as mobile phones is getting higher and higher, which also brings greater challenges to the thermal performance. Most of the new flagship machines and 5g mobile phones use VC liquid cooling. Many people may not be familiar with VC liquid cooling. What is the difference between VC liquid cooling and copper tube cooling. With these questions, the following small series will introduce VC liquid cooling for you.

      VC(vapor chamber) liquid cooling plate  means vacuum chamber soaking plate technology, also known as temperature equalizing plate and soaking plate, is a way of high-efficiency heat transfer.

Working principle:

1. When the VC base is heated, and the heat source heats the copper mesh micro evaporator - heat absorption


2. The coolant (purified water) is heated in the vacuum ultra-low pressure environment and evaporates rapidly into hot air - endothermic


3. Vapor chamber adopts vacuum design, and hot air flows more rapidly in the copper mesh micro environment - heat conduction


4. The hot air is heated up, dissipates heat when it meets the cold source on the upper part of the radiating plate, and recondenses into liquid - heat dissipation


5. The condensed coolant flows back to the evaporation source at the bottom of the soaking plate through the copper micro structure capillary pipe - reflux. The returned coolant is heated through the evaporator and then gasified again, and absorbs heat > conducts heat > dissipates heat through the copper mesh micro pipe, which acts repeatedly.

    The same as copper heatpipe cooling: the inner wall of VC  is a layer of capillary structure, which is filled with liquid and vacuumized. When the heat is released, the internal liquid is gasified and transferred to the condensing layer, where it is cooled and condensed into water. From this process, heat pipe and VC seem to be the same thing.

The difference to the copper heatpipe:

     Different from the heat pipe, VC  products are made by vacuuming first and then injecting pure water, so that all microstructures can be filled. The filling medium does not use methanol, alcohol, acetone, etc., but uses degassed pure water, which can improve the efficiency and durability of the vapor chamber.

  Heat pipe cooling technology is relatively mature and the price is relatively low. VC  dissipates heat faster, but the cost is higher. It is generally used in electronic products with smaller volume and faster heat dissipation.
