The benefits of Skiving Fin Process

   Skive Fin heatsinks can be an alternative to extruded heat sinks when looking for fin density parts which can’t be made by extrusion technology, or can be the alternative to fin-brazing or fin-bonding parts as well to achieve high performance. Skive Fins are made by using series of  knives that literally shaves fins up from extruded aluminum or copper base. The process of slicing and standing fins up at a time can create an extremely high fin-gap aspect ratio, then the top of fins will be cut to a uniform height.

  Skive Fin technology are mostly used on IGBT Air Cooling Heatsink, such as Solar Power, Wind Power and Transpiration applications, and the tooling cost is much lower than extrusion and brazing product.

Using skive fin process has many advantages in different applications:

 1.  Can get much more fins due to much higher fin gap ratio.

  2. Better performance with material changing.

  3. Can set different fin density in one heatsink.

  4. Allow more design flexible with fin cut out.
