Intel Invests 700 Million US Dollars To Seize The Lead In Cooling Technology
Heat may be the biggest enemy of computer processors. In order to solve problems such as heat dissipation and cooling, chip industry giant Intel recently invested another $700 million in the construction of large laboratories, and two other overseas laboratories have successively announced new discoveries in heat dissipation solutions. The demand for new cooling solutions comes from Intel's recently launched Xeon series of CPUs, which have a maximum of over 50 cores and a power consumption of 400W. Traditional air cooling methods are no longer sufficient.
In addition, Intel has launched the industry's first open intellectual property immersion cooling solution and reference design, aimed at simplifying and accelerating the global immersion liquid cooling ecosystem solution. This laboratory will be built at the Jones Farm Estate in Hillsborough, Oregon, USA, and is expected to open in 2023.
