Intel Is Working On Submerged Liquid Cooling Technology
It is estimated that up to 40% of the power consumption is used to cool all the data center infrastructure, and with the increasing power density of the processor, the server has now exceeded the limit that the air cooling system can cope with. The white paper warns that some CPUs to be launched by Intel and AMD will reach the threshold that air cooling cannot meet.
According to the survey results of Intel and GRC, many data center operators are aware of this, and up to three quarters of the operators are now considering the importance of sustainability as a differentiation factor of competition. Intel said that as industries such as cloud computing and telecom market turned to liquid cooling solutions, the company considered immersion cooling when designing silicon products, which means rethinking elements such as heatsinks.
