Cooling fan bearing knowledge

     With the help of the rotation of fan blades, the heatsink converts its mechanical energy into potential energy and kinetic energy of air, so as to form forced convection and transfer the heat of fins to the environment to help CPU cool down. In terms of fan rotation, the motor and bearing are naturally responsible, and the bearing, as the key part bearing the function of rotation, determines the service life, noise and overall quality of the fan to a great extent.

      As an important part commonly existing in contemporary mechanical equipment, bearing plays a role in reducing the friction coefficient in the movement process and ensuring its rotation accuracy. At present, most of the bearings we can contact are mainly based on the two principles or mixed use of sliding bearing  and ball bearing .

     In the field of computer fan heatsink , there are many improved types mainly based on sliding bearings. The main types of cooling fans are oil bearing, hydraulic bearing, Laifu bearing and hydrodynamic bearing. In the industrial field requiring long-term use, ball bearings and improved bearings are mainly used at present. The main types used in fans are: single ball bearings, double ball bearings and magnetic levitation bearings.

Use cost: the cost of sliding bearing is low

     In an ideal environment, the sliding surface of the sliding bearing is separated by the lubricating oil without direct contact, which can greatly reduce the friction loss and surface wear. The oil film also has a certain vibration absorption capacity to make the rotation smooth and stable, and achieve low noise at the same time.

Application scenario: sliding bearing is more stable

      In earlier times, the hard disk of the computer directly used ball bearings, but the traditional ball bearings could not eliminate the non-uniformity of the ball. Although the tolerance of the rest of the ball bearings had been reduced as much as possible, the manufacturing accuracy was limited in all aspects. In the high-speed hard disk, the ball vibration was difficult to eliminate. Sliding bearing can effectively suppress vibration problems, and its relatively simple structure has higher reliability.
