Do you know how to clean the CPU cooling fan?

It is best to apply thermal grease between the heat sink and the CPU when installing the cooling fan.

It should be realized that the role of thermally conductive silicone grease is not only to quickly and evenly transfer the heat generated by the CPU to the heat sink. In many cases, silicone grease can also increase the heat conduction between the uneven lower surface of the heat sink and the CPU. touch. Because silicone grease has a certain viscosity, when the metal shrapnel that fixes the heat sink is slightly loose, it can prevent the heat sink from separating from the CPU surface to a certain extent and maintain the efficiency of the cooling fan.

The principle of using silicone grease is to be able to The less is less. Just drop a little on the surface of the CPU and wipe it evenly with your fingers. Otherwise, it will not only make the inside of the chassis dirty, but also may cause leakage faults.

The tightness of the metal shrapnel used to fix the cooling fan can generally be adjusted. If the CPU with the core exposed outside is not used, the cooling fan should be installed as close as possible, otherwise it may be caused by the heat sink not being in full contact with the surface of the CPU.

The reduction of heat dissipation and the occurrence of vibration phenomena. During use, it is found that if the newly installed cooling fan has a reduced performance after several days of use, it is usually the result of a slight slippage of the shrapnel, such as the baffle slipping up by one gear. Therefore, when using the shrapnel in place, you should not be sloppy for fear of effort, and you must do your best to ensure the fastening. In addition, be careful not to use excessive force during installation, so as not to damage the components and circuits near the CPU socket.

The CPU cooling fan has the side effect of inhaling dust. More dust not only hinders the ventilation of the heat sink, but also affects the rotation of the fan. Therefore, the cooling fan needs to be cleaned within a period of use. When cleaning, you need to disassemble the heat sink and the fan first.

The heat sink can be directly washed with water. For the fan and heat sink with sticky dirt, you can use a cotton swab or tweezers to hold a cloth or a small amount of cotton to wipe clean. If the noise of the cooling fan increases abnormally after half a year to about one year of normal operation, it is usually caused by the exhaustion of the internal lubricant of the cooling fan, and the axis of the cooling fan needs to be filled with lubricant.

The CPU cooling fan does not have any requirements on the type of lubricant. Common lubricants can be used, but do not use grease with high viscosity, otherwise the fan will not work well. Remove the fan from the heat sink, open the bottom oil seal (usually a piece of black plastic), and you can see the shaft of the fan. When refueling, you can use tweezers or toothpicks to drip into the shaft. The depth is average, not too much. After refueling, put the oil seal on immediately to prevent the lubricating oil from evaporating, and invert it for a period of time. After the lubricating oil penetrates into the bearing, fix it to the heat sink, and the cooling fan can be reused.
