Liquid cooling industry standard will be implemented soon

     According to the official news of China information and Communication Research Institute, five data center liquid cooling industry standards have been released in December 2021 and will be officially implemented from April 1, 2022.

     It is understood that this series of industrial standards covers the technical requirements and test methods of immersion, cold plate and other main liquid cooling methods, as well as the requirements and test methods of liquid cooling energy efficiency, cooling liquid technical requirements and test methods, filling the gap in the current industrial standards of liquid cooling in data centers at home and abroad.

     The Institute pointed out that since the liquid cooling of data center is a newly emerging "revolutionary" technology, the research and development of liquid cooling of enterprises is basically in a state of their own. The release of this series of industry standards has important guiding significance for the application of liquid cooling technology in enterprises and the orderly construction of liquid cooling industry in China.

What is liquid cooling:


     Liquid cooling refers to the cooling method that uses the liquid with high specific heat capacity as the working medium for heat transmission to meet the heat dissipation needs of IT equipment such as servers. It is mainly divided into indirect contact liquid cooling and direct contact liquid cooling. Purified water, mineral oil and fluorinated liquid are commonly used coolants.

     At present, liquid cooling technology is mainly used in high-performance computing, widely used in data center, edge computing, artificial intelligence technology and so on.
