Phase change material application in battery cooling

       Thermal conductivity phase change is a kind of material that can absorb and release the latent heat of phase change. It has important applications in energy storage. The use of phase change materials in the thermal management system of power battery has attracted more and more attention. 

   The thermal management technology of automotive battery using thermal conductive phase change materials has been widely studied. Using the phase change latent heat of phase change materials to control the temperature of the battery can effectively reduce the temperature rise of the battery under high rate working conditions and improve the temperature uniformity.

        Thermal conductive phase change material is the main principle of temperature control: it uses phase change to absorb heat, and its own temperature will not change significantly. Thermally conductive phase change materials are widely used in aerospace, building energy conservation, solar energy utilization, cold chain transportation and other fields. 

     In the application case of battery thermal management, the advantages and disadvantages of air cooling, liquid cooling and phase change temperature control are compared. Thermally conductive phase change materials have attracted much attention for their excellent performance, high reliability and low cost.

     Generally speaking, the two difficult problems of high temperature not exceeding the working temperature and uniform temperature need to be solved for battery heat dissipation. In order to give full play to the excellent performance and prolong the service life of the battery, it is necessary to optimize the structure of the battery, increase the heat dissipation facilities, control the temperature environment of battery operation, and select the material with heat conduction phase change is always a better thermal solution.
