Intel Cooperate With Submer To Develop Data Center Cooling Technology

Intel announced a partnership with Sumber to develop waste heat recovery technology based on submerged cooling for the next generation of data centers.Intel and Submer are using Xeon architecture server systems and Submer's precision cooling technology to demonstrate to the industry a solution for recovering high-grade waste heat from data centers. This collaboration between Intel and Sumber will accelerate the adoption of submerged liquid cooling and ecosystem building in the data center industry.

Recent innovations in immersion cooling technology are helping to dramatically improve the energy efficiency of data centers, enabling companies to achieve the SUSTAINABLE Development Goals. Our collaboration with Submer can be applied to all stages of the submerged cooling value chain and provide a sustainable solution that makes a difference for our mutual customers.

In the context of global climate change, data center managers are becoming more committed to finding ways to be more environmentally friendly and sustainable.By adopting immersion cooling technology, you can ensure that the data center infrastructure can meet the challenges of today and power future usage scenarios. As usage increases, it is critical to establish industry guidelines on best practices for immersion technology in order to make better use of the technology.

Heat is considered a burden in current data center cooling practices. When heat is removed or discarded, the process affects the environment and data center operating costs. The Precision Immersion coolant cloud concept uses liquid cooling to achieve higher efficiency and density. Its goal is to reshape the use of IT thermal energy by integrating a precision immersion cooling architecture within each node. This approach helps ensure that the high grade heat generated can easily be reused, monetized, or even harnessed to generate electricity, while maintaining optimal operating temperatures for processors and other components. This approach will ultimately eliminate cooling costs and achieve an unprecedented improvement in total operating costs, thus turning the current cooling burden into a benefit.

By working together to reshape the way the industry operates today, we are laying the foundation for server Oems and operators to have a clear roadmap to transform the data center industry and significantly reduce the carbon footprint of their operations."Daniel Pope, co-founder and CEO of Submer.

In addition to the technical expertise Intel and Submer bring to the project, guidance from a coalition of industry leaders will help build a supply chain of scale-up technologies to ensure data centers are capable of delivering a new generation of sustainable infrastructure. As part of the collaboration, Intel will focus its efforts on open standards products that support scalable data center deployments from the cloud to the edge and partner with industries that deploy these solutions.Intel's experience in building scalable ecosystems through a global network of partners is critical to ensuring systems are compatible with standard server materials and meet the needs of the global industry.

Intel's partnership with Submer builds on Intel's RISE strategy and 2030 goals, and is committed to sustainable development.Intel will continue to unlock the potential of computing power and data centers through innovative technologies and efficient solutions, working with eco-partners.As a leader in the technology industry, Intel is committed to promoting technological innovation to address the common issues and challenges of global climate change and sustainable development.Through the RISE strategy, Intel is committed to fulfilling its mission of creating world-changing technologies for the benefit of everyone on the planet.
