Liquid cooling VS air cooling in Server
Liquid cooling heat dissipation: Liquid cooling heat dissipation is to absorb the heat of the CPU, and achieve the purpose of heat dissipation by cooling the liquid. There is also a mode that puts the server completely under liquid operation.

Air-cooled heat dissipation: Air-cooled heat transfer is to transfer the heat from the CPU to the radiator block through the radiator, and then blow the hot air away by the fan. Therefore, air conditioning is also needed to cool the environment.

Liquid cooling has a quieter operation (no fan noise), higher cooling efficiency, lower power consumption, and the use of liquid cooling technology can also reduce the investment of air conditioners. But the cost is high and maintenance is difficult.
Type of coolant:
1. Water has a large specific heat capacity, no pollution but not an insulator, and can only be used in non-direct contact liquid cooling technology.
2. Mineral oil is a relatively low-priced insulating coolant. Single-phase mineral oil is odorless, non-toxic and non-volatile. It is an environmentally friendly medium. However, mineral oil has high viscosity and is more likely to remain, and there is a risk of burning under certain conditions. .
3. Fluorinated liquid is the most widely used immersion coolant because of its insulating and non-flammable inertness, which will not cause any impact on the equipment. However, it is more expensive.
I personally think that the current mainstream is still air-cooled servers because of low cost and easy maintenance. And the application time is long, the technology is relatively mature. The current liquid cooling mainly needs to solve the problems of cost, electrical conductivity, corrosion and so on.
