Product process

Pin fin heat sink is usually manufactured by two methods: Forging and extruing.

Forging: forging is classfied into cold forming and hot forming, it a technology that can punch the copper bar into the round shape as required which can not be extruded, although the machining process can achieve it, the cost would be huge, forging process enables the round pin fin heat sink for mass production. There are several benefits on forging process:

2, The production effiency is very high to save the labor cost and improve the output volume in unit time;

3, The solid construction makes the stiffness between the fin and base stronger;

4, Improve the thermal performance due to the increased surface area and airflow;

5, Low cost due to the mature process.

Extruding: Extruding is usually used to manufacturing aluminum pin fin heat sink, cross cut the fins to make the square pin fin heat sinks, it's very common and low cost thermal option.
