Aluminum pin fin heat sink has two patterns: round pin fin heat sink made by cold forging technology, square pin fin made by extrusion and cross cut. Pin fin heat sink can offer a great thermal performance when the ambient airflow is limited, it allows the airflow can pass through the heat sink from any direction, it has little impact on the thermal performance when the airflow speed or direction fluctuated.

Aluminum cold forged heat sink is usually manufactured from aluminum 1070, which has better thermal conductivity than other alloy such as 6061 and 6063.

Aluminum extruded pin fin heat sink are extruded from ingot and cross cut to get the squared pin fin pattern, it's a cost efficient and easy manufactured pin fin heat sink type.
