Copper pedestal: the pedestal contacts the heat source, as copper is ideal thermal conductor, which can absorb the heat and conduct  very fast, it can improve the thermal conduct efficiency.

Heat pipe: Heat pipe is the core component for this type of heat sink, compared with solid copper or aluminum, the heat pipe has an extraordinary heat transferring ability, which can transfer the heat much faster than copper, so it can take away more heat in unit time.

Aluminum fin: When the heat pipe take the heat and conduct to the alumium fins, the function of fins is to dissipate the heat to the air, as aluminum has a better heat dissipation ability, so the aluminum fins can improve the heat dissipation efficiency.
