Intel LGA 4189 2U CPU heat pipe cooler is designed for 2U Server system which utilizes Intel Ice Lake or Copper Lake processor, this heat sink consists of aluminum zipper fins, aluminum base, copper block and 5 heat pipes, this design can significantly solve the thermal issues for high power electronic devices.

Aluminum zipper fin
Aluminum zipper fin stack are stamped from a thin aluminum sheet, and are folded into a shape, the fin length, height, and pitch are set up in the tooling before production, when a finished fin stack is completed, the next process is nickel plating, so it can be soldered with heat pipes, aluminum base and copper block. Aluminum zipper fin stack has excellent heat dissipation performance as aluminum metal property, when the heat was conducted to the aluminum fin stack by the heat pipes, the heat can be dissipated rapidly by the aluminum fin stack. Aluminum zipper fin stack is a critical component for a heat sink module.
Aluminum base
As aluminum has great thermal conductivity and hardness, so we usually utilize aluminum to be the substrate, the aluminum base is usually manufactured by CNC, then nickel plated to solder with the aluminum zipper fin stack and heat pipes, we also will machine some grooves to embed the heat pipes inside the aluminum base.
Copper block
As copper is a very good conductor of heat, we typically utilize copper to contact the CPU and the copper block can quickly absorb the heat from CPU and transfer the heat to heat pipes, so the heat generated from the CPU can be removed rapidly. Copper block is an important component to disperse the heat from CPU. It has many benefits:
- Good thermal and electrical conductivity
- Density ~ 0.321 lb/in³
- Tensile strength of ~ 310 MPa
- Easy malleability
- Easy to recycle

Heat pipe
A heat pipe basically consists of a vacuum sealed enclosure, a wick structure, a working fluid, and usually the enclosure is copper tube, a sintered copper wick structure is bonded into the inner wall, and utilizing de-ionized water as working fluid. Heat pipe is one of the most effective thermal devices which can disperse the heat faster than any metal. When the heat is applied, the liquid turns into vapor and take the heat to the lower pressure area where usually is soldered with cooling fins, the vapor would be condesed into liquid and release the heat which will be dissipated by cooling fin. the liquid will travel back by the capillarity of wick structure.Factory exhibition
